Increase the width of the legend

Post by aortizb »

Hello, I've noticed that with newer GiD versions the legend has been getting thinner. In version 13 the legends were by default way thicker. In Version 15 it is just too thin as shown in the attached file. Is there any way to increase its width?

Best,
Alejandro.

I am not sure if it is becoming thinner in new GiD versions, maybe depends on your user preferences, the length of your result name "Pressure", etc.

You can change some settings (in post mode) with
Utilities->Preferences...
Postprocess - Legends and comments

and check also the format of the printed numbers in

Graphical - Appearance : Legend format

Thanks Enrique. I meant the default view of the legend looked thicker in older GiD versions.

I had already tried the options that is offered through the GUI and that didn't work. Still the legend looks too thin under my perspective. See new picture. I am more inclined to change the width via the GiD command line. For instance, to remove the axis I do the following:

Mescape View Hardcopy Options _showaxes No

Is there any command that allows changing the width of the legend?

Best,
Alejandro.

Please, attach an image created with GiD 13 that looks 'as you want'
and attach also a zip with the model to try to reach as similar look with GiD 15

This was obtained using GiD 10 (got it from a paper of myself of 2011 since I can't find the original files):

I can't find the original files, but I attach one zipped I replicated in GiD 15. This is the outcome:

In the second picture the color bar looks thinner and there is more space between any pair of numbers. I would like to approach the look of the first image above.

But besides this, my question is: is it possible to access additional legend customization through the GiD command line that is not available in the GUI?

No, It is not possible to change the width of the 'color bar' with other 'process commands' that don't appear in the Preferences window
You can see these 'process keywords' showing the 'right buttons toolbar', with the menu: Utilities->Tools->Toolbars
select "Righ buttons" and "Inside" (or set None to hide it)

You can change the height with Utilities->Preferences... Postprocess-Legends and comments "Vertical size"

and you can also change position of this bar with the menu: Utilities->Tools->Move screen objects
then click the bar and drag to a new position
