High to all,

Is it posible to generate in GiD an anistropic mesh (oriented stretched element) from a user defined scalar error field?

Cannot be defined directly in GiD a anisotropy direction for the mesh.
What if can become it is to define a mesh size in any point of the space, by means of a " background mesh ". This makes possible the adaptive re-meshing, assigning the new size based on an error estimator of the solution in the previous mesh.

For more information see the GiD OnLine Reference Manual (MESHING Assign Unstruct sizes)
http://gid.cimne.upc.es/support/index.html

Note: the background mesh option is available only on the GiD 6.1.4beta version.
