[GiDlist] Snapping to Points

Post by Shriram »

Hello,

There is an option for snapping to grid which can be enabled/disabled which
is fine. However, in addition is it possible to snap to existing points
(with the grid snap on)?

The problem arises because when the snap to grid is enabled, it is not
possible to snap to an already existing point which is needed to close a
figure or continue drawing on a figure. With grid snap enabled, GiD snaps
only to the grid every time and not to the points which is making difficult
to use the snaps when we need to select existing points.

Is there a way to overcome this?

Thanks,

Shriram

If do you want to pick an existing point then must set "join", then GiD ask for a point number instead a x,y,z location and the 'snap on' doesn't affect.
(pressing Ctrl-a is the easiest method to swap between join and no-join mode)
