Hi All
I have used GiD for many years and last used version 9. I'm now working at a new company and I am doing FEA and CFD of complex fluidic geometries imported from CAD.
My question is, how capable is GiD for producing meshes with boundary layers when the geometry is highly complex? does anyone have any experience of using it for such?
One of my colleagues has experience of using ANSA in the motor sport industry for CFD preprocessing and thinks highly of it, how would GiD users/developers rate GiD against ANSA?
Looking forward to your feed back.
Best regards
Mark

[GiDlist] Gid for complex geometry CFD
Dear Mark,
I’m Abel Coll, from the GiD developer team. Personally I haven’t used ANSA,
so I cannot compare it with GiD. The only thing I can tell you is that GiD
is fully cappable to generate boundary layer meshes in 3D geometries with
tetrahedra mesh.
User can choose beteen three different stretching functions (with the
corresponding growing factor) in the preferences window, and the first layer
height and the number of layers can be assigned to the geometrical entities
via Mesh menu.
Please, don’t hesitate to contact me (abelcs at cimne.upc.edu) if you need more
information, or you need some other requirement from GiD concerning this
topic.
Regards,
ABEL
