When the USB (with license) is plugged in, GiD 16 does not detect the license. Only after restarting GiD, it could detect the USB and use the license. This is not a bug but very annoying feature, leading to lost of WIP.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
@kstn Wich exact version of GiD 16 are you using? Windows or Linux?
GiD should detect the us as soon as you plug it in (or mount the unit in linux)

It’s GiD 16.0.5 on Ubuntu 24.04.
Ok, it’s possible that this bug has been fixed in another version of GiD 16.
Could you try it with the latest GiD 16 official? I think it’s 16.0.11
You can find it here

Ok, I mark it as a bug.
The person in charge will answer this when he comes back from vacation, on September.
My apologies
You can try the latest 16.1.10d available 16.x version (developer version has more features that the 16.0.11 last 16.x official version)
And can also check if USB licence is immediately detected on Linux (with a temporary free password) using current 17.0.5 or 17.1.5d versions
I have tested 16.1.10d. The license is detected when the USB is disconnected/reconnected. It won’t detect if GiD is started with ACADEMIC license. For 17.x.x I don’t have a licensed USB to test unfortunately.
