Hi GID experts,

I want to simulate a structure with graded refractive index profile.Does GID allow us to do it?Thank you.

Sorry, we don’t know any optical code coupled to GiD to do this kind of simulation.

Hi
You could of course split your material into many layers & assign a
different index to each layer for your external optical code to use?

Thanks Mark. How many layers and of what widths could be possible in this way?Is there any maximum limit in GID?Thank you.

There is no practical limitation on the number of Layers of GiD (the maximum id=2.147.483.648 , for a 32 bits signed integer)

The real limit will be the available memory, and off course the Layers window is not designed for so big number of layers and probably become unoperative.
