I have a model with 23760 nodes and 8250 elements. When in interacting mode, e.g., turn on the nodal DISPLACEMENT results and rotating the model, the visualization is very lagging. It’s so bad that I have to kill the process. This occurs for both Fast and Safe Visualization mode. I don’t think this model is large enough to cause any problem. Is there any way to improve this? The GiD version if 16.0.5 on Linux.
I also attached the post file for checking/testing. post.zip (419.4 KB)
Your model is really small, and must redraw fast.
In my (10 years old) computer it can do about 60 redraws per second.
You can test you computer writing this in the lower entry:
-np- W [test_fps]
→
Redrawing 182 times … done: 59.2 fps.
Check that your monitor is physically plugged to the right graphic card (in case that you have two cards)
Check also in Utilities->Preferences… of GiD the Graphical->System settings
‘Fast visualization mode’
Drawing method: Vertex buffer objects
And check in Help->About… More the graphic driver that is using to draw with OpenGL
