GiD 14 & 15 cannot run with GeForce RTX 2070 enabled

None of the GiD 14 or 15 releases is able to work when my GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card is enabled. If the card is activated, the program starts up and I can see the splash with “Initializing GiD…” but then immediately crashes. To work on GiD on my machine I have to disable the graphics card from Device Manager.

System information:
Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit
BIOS: LENOVO BIOS Rev: M1VKT45A 0.0
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz
Integrated graphics card: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630
Dedicated graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (Game Ready Driver Version 461.92, 16 March 2021)

Have you tried to install the drivers for your graphic card downloaded directly from the nvidia web page?
e.g. Descarga los últimos controladores oficiales de NVIDIA

They are different, and maybe better than the ones downloaded from the Windows update page.

Thanks for the reply, escolano. I tried different drivers from NVIDIA and none seem to fix this issue. Frankly, I am not too concerned with this problem at the current time because I can just disable the graphics card when I need to use GiD.

I will get in touch again in the future if the issue becomes too persistent or disabling the card stops working.

do you still have problems with the latest gid 15.1.1d version an your RTX 2070 nvidia card?

Can you provide us with the output of the command line wglinfo64.exe program Index of /windows-utils ?

Can you send us the settings of your card shown in Nvidia panel–>Manage 3D settings ? May be there is some option there like ‘OpenGL compatibility’ … ?

You can also use OpenGL by software
Utilities->Preferences… Graphical->System:
select the “Safe visualization mode” radio button
