Clarification on Workflow for Switching from Elastic Isotropic to PDMY02 (Two Intervals) in GiD + OpenSees

Hello,

I’m modeling a 1 m × 1 m soil domain in GiD 17.1.5d (academic license) using the GiD–OpenSees interface.
Interval 1 ran successfully with Elastic Isotropic material for the static gravity step.
Now I want Interval 2 to use PDMY02 for nonlinear dynamic analysis (uniform sine excitation in Ux).

Can someone confirm if this workflow is correct?

  1. Keep the same element group name (“soil”) used in Interval 1.

  2. In Interval 2, change only the material to PDMY02.

  3. Activate Interval 2 → set Loading Type = Uniform Excitation (Sine).

  4. Check both boxes:
Keep this loading active until end of analysis
Set time at end of interval analysis

  5. No need to reassign body forces or re-mesh; Interval 2 time continues automatically from Interval 1.

Will this ensure the PDMY02 model starts from the stress state of Interval 1 and runs correctly for dynamic analysis?
Also, any guidance on typical PDMY02 parameters for dry sand would be appreciated.

Thanks,
