Cannot add a line in GiD

When trying to connect pre-existing points with a line in GiD I get the following error message:

“Entering points in screen is forbidden when plane (z=0) is orthogonal in current view”

It is true that the plane is orthogonal but this is how I want to enter my geometry. What is causing this error and how can I fix it?

To connect existing points you must be in ‘Join’ mode (GiD expects a point integer id), not in ‘No Join’ mode (GiD expects three real coordinates)
While selecting you can swap this mode with the contextual menu ‘Join/No Join’ or easily with the accelerator key
