Braided mesh model development

Dear Sir,
I am new to GiD software.
I want to create a 3D geometry of braided sleeve.
I read your article on “A CAD tool for the electromagnetic modeling of braided wire shields”. But I am facing difficulty in creating the model.

Can anyone please suggest me step-by-step procedures to generate the 3D model for braided sleeve.

Really creating this kind of geometry could be near-imposible with GiD
You must try to create with an external CAD and import it.

I don’t know the kind of model you want to obtain: e.g. volumes, or curves

A similar case, to create medical stents, has been solved writing specialiced Tcl/Tk scripts that create a model of curves from some parameters.

The images are of the kratos 7.1.5 stent application

Thanks for your effort and advice.
Actually, the institute published a report on “A CAD tool for the electromagnetic modeling of braided wire shields”, link of which is given below.
http://tts.cimne.com/ermes/documentacionrotin/TechReport-CADZt.pdf

In that report, the author generated the CAD model of braided wire 3D structure using GiD software. So, kindly advice me how to replicate the same.
I need just an example. ID or wire dia can take your choice.

This article is of 2013 year.
It seems that Ruben Otín has wrote a specialized Tcl/Tk scripting to generate the GiD geometries,
similar to the images that I have shown to create stents

I will try to contact him (he’s not working at CIMNE nowadays), and ask if already has a copy of the scripts or models

Hi again,
Ruben said that the files with the script, tutorials and examples of this article can be download from his webpage:

great…
