Dear friends at GiD,
I have an IGES file that I would like to import, but the content is nodes and elements only (types 134 and 136). Although my GiD 9.0.4 version won't import it, I see from the online documentation that the beta version of GiD will. Could I be allowed to use it for this purpose, and is it possible to then convert the geometry into a form that can be read by GiD 9.0.4 and other software? Thank you!
Best regards,
Kathy

Dear Kathy,
All GiD 9 versions use the same validation, since you can use any GiD 9
version with the same password that you are already using, specifically the
last beta version GiD9.2.1b
Backward compatibility it's not guarantied, so not all files saved with beta
version could be read with official version but usually it can be done.
Sincerely,
Adrià

Dear Kathy,
GiD 9.0.4 is also able to read this IGES 134 and 136 entity types,
The mesh of GiD 9.1.x beta versions can be also read by GiD 9.0.x versions, and can be exported to other softwares using some template or 'problem type', like NASTRAN, ABAQUS, LsDyna, Fluent, etc
If you can't read your file, could send (directly to escolano at cimne.upc.edu instead the GiDList) to have a look and try to solve the problems.
Regards
Enrique Escolano
