[GiDlist] Evaluation Version

Hello GiDs,

Does GiD considers an expiry date for the data files (models) created with Evaluation Version? I have been using the Evaluation Version for almost 1 year for academic purposes, but now I have a problem with GiD. It does not work on my existing data files which are nearly 2 months old (or more).

I have this problem both on Windows (8 pro) and Linux (Ubuntu). My files were originally created using GiD 11.0.5 on Windows. I also tried 11.0.6, 11.0.8, and 12.0.1 but it was unsuccessful.

I am now using GiD 11.0.8 which is working properly if I want to make new files and modify these new files, but I am not able to modify any of my old data files and I have to make the model from scratch.

On Linux I use GiD 11.0.7 but now it gives a permission error ( it says access denied to some file) after I press calculate button.

Kind regards,

Ali Ghavam-Nasiri

Hello! In my analysis there is a result that is given directly on nodes. Is there a way I can view them directly on the nodes without GiD interpolating them to the element?E.g.: I don't want a colored element. I want colored nodes with only the pure values given.
Thanks in advance!
David

Hello Ali Ghavam-Nasiri,
GiD do not have any expiration date on data files. Any GiD equal or
newer than GiD 11.0.5 must open all your files.
Could you send me and example to my private mail to check what is the
problem: amelendo at cimne.upc.edu

kind regards,

Adrià from GiD Team

Hello David,

In order to see only the nodes colored you can change the display style
to "Points" or to "Points Bound".
You can change it through top menu "Window-View Style..."
In these cases only the nodes are displayed. You can find more options
related with the nodes display through top menu
"Options-Geometry-Point options..."

Best regards,

Hello,

I am using GiD12.0.1 in my system. I create models of 3d structures in GiD.
Once I started doing meshing the screen automatically closes and I used to
get a message as segmentation fault (code dumped). How to rectify this
error. Please help me.

It happen meshing all models or only with some model? Then send us the model and specify your main meshing options

Or if the model or the mesh is too big maybe there is not enough physical memory to handle it.

Which is your operating system? Windows or Linux? X32 or x64? Which distribution and version in case of Linux (e.g. Ubuntu x.x, Debian, …)

Maybe there is some problem with your graphic card. Try both modes: fast and safe visualization mode (Utilities-Preferences – Graphical - system )

Enrique Escolano

Dear Enrique Escolano

Thanks for the reply to my earlier mail. I have changed the visualization
