[GiDlist] Volume & Surface mesh

Post by Christophe Louis »

Hello,

I am trying to generate elements in GiD in order to use the "Boundary Element Method" but, to do this, I need to mesh the volume with hexahedra elements and the boundary of this volume with quadrilateral elements (sharing the same nodes). Could you please tell me whether it is possible to do it in GiD.

Thanks,

Christophe Louis

PS : For more information about the problem I am dealing with, see attached file.

In order to create the volume elements (hexahedra), and also the surface elements (quadrilateral), use
Meshing-Mesh Criteria-Mesh Surfaces
And select the surfaces to force to mesh.
(By default, and isolated surface is meshed, but a surface with a parent volume is not meshed)

Another method to force to mesh entities, is to select in the preferences windows - meshing, the type of entity to
force to be always meshed.
In your case, select the surface icon in "Mesh always by defauls ".

Hi GiD support,

I am a user of GiD v6.1.2 and I'm trying to display some values for my
tetras. But I'm encountering a problem, here is my sample .flavia.res file:

gausspoints "edges" elemtype tetrahedra
number of gauss point: 4
natural coordinates: internal
end gausspoints
NEARFIELD(V/cm)3 1 1 2 0 "edges"
1 20
14
7
1

And this is the error message:

Too few numbers : in this line: 7 - Reading Results.

Pls advice.

Regards,
Tom

Please, send us the complete model (mesh and results) so we can test it.
