[GiDlist] Meshing of contact volume elements

Post by Muslikh »

Dear GID developers,

I would like to ask about how to mesh a tube filled with a certain material and there is
a contact/ interface between them.
For 1/8 of the section, I can mesh the material inside with hexahedral elements easily.
Also, the thin tube can be meshed with hexahedral elements properly. However, when
I put a contact volume between them, I could not get the right mesh for the tube
(the previous mesh changed irregularly - see a figure). The input file and the figure are
attached in this email.

I am looking forward your explanation for this problem.

Sincerely,

Muslikh

Dear Gid team,

I want to get rig off the box appearing at the end of the calculate
action which informs me that the calculation which was started at xxx
date and time was ended. I don't want to click on the ok button or

[GiDlist] Meshing of contact volume elements

Yes, this is a known bug using contacts.

To temporary avoid the problem in your model, you can set the same normal sense for the surfaces linked by the contact (swap the normal of the surface 6 and 9 to be the same sense as the surface 4).
