[GiDlist] Isosurfaces of different colors on top of a contou

Post by Marco Giometto | EPFL »

Hello,

I'm plotting multiple results through GiD postprocess (see attached
pictures). I managed to get a contour plot along a cut and then I wanted
to plot on top of it 3 iso-surfaces of the x-velocity, giving to each of
the surface the corresponding color in the contour plot, but didn't
manage to do this last step: the isosurfaces were displayed all with the
same color if I chose Optionsisosurfacescolor mode contour fill color.
Is there a way to obtain the 3 isosurfaces with different colors, each
corresponding to the given contour value?

Best regards,
Marco Giometto

Dear Marco,

Yes, but you should follow a last step, after changing the colour mode
please select the contour fill result.
If no contour fill is selected the iso surfaces are displayed in
monochrome colour.

Best regards,

[GiDlist] Isosurfaces of different colors on top of a contou

Post by miguel »

Hello Marco,

You can visualize a result contour fill over isosurfaces like this:

1. create the isosurfaces ( for instance x-velocity)

2. as you said select options--isosurfaces--color mode-- contour fill

3. doing now a contour fill of another result will draw the contour fill of this result over the isosurface too, like this:

here there are three isosurfaces of vorticity at values 0.1, 0.4 and 1 and the contour fill drawn is of the velocity modulus. Also there are two cuts of the volume mesh, one is parallel to the xy plane, and the other one perpendicular to it and near the cylinder, crossing the isosurfaces too.

if you select Options--isosurfaces--Color mode--result color the the isosurfaces will be drawn with the color of the result used to create those isosurfaces, like this:

Here the isosurfaces are blue-green-red corresponding to the isovalues 0.1-0.4-1.0 of vorticity ( result used to create the isosurfaces), and at the same time the contour fill of the velocity modulus is drawn.

Hope it helped,

best regards,

Miguel Pasenau
