I am unable to assign a material to an object while in Tochnog mode.
The window DataMaterials only shows group types among which I can choose,
while I don’t know what they represent and how to edit them. The same thing
happens to the DataConditions window, which is quite different from the one
shown in the GiD Problem Type Tutorial (“Defining a Problem Type”, page 10
for the conditions window and page 8 for the materials window).
Moreover, the window DataProblem_Data only shows when no problem types
have been selected. It disappears when I choose Tochnog and is replaced by
DataData_Units, which also has a different appearance. How dow I program
the .prb file, then, since the menus and commands are different (“Defining a
Problem Type”, page 9) ? Is the programming of the .cnd file also affected
by this ? And how I am supposed to assign a material to an object if I
can’t specify any property for a material ? When I try to use the
mentionned menus before selecting a problem type, it sends me an error
message saying that “Conditions, Materials, Interval data and Problem data
are available only when defined inside a problem type”. And when I
afterwards want to select a problem type, it erases all the data and objects
created before. What should I do ?
Thanks for your help.

Each problem type, can customize the material or contition fields.
For example, a material in the problem type Tochnog only have a field named
group type.
The number of fields is fixed by the problem type, the user cannot change
this. Only assign a material to a point-line-surface or volume.
The tutorial “Defining a Problem Type”, is to learn to customize GiD to use
for pre-postprocess of
a user code. To use directly for Tochnog or another problem type is not
necessary to learn
this customization, only must learn to use the program.
(see http://gid.cimne.upc.es/gidplus.index.htm for more codes with Gid
problem type)
Only if the use write your analysis code, then must create a owner problem
type files (as is detailed in the tutorial and in the GiD Reference Manual)
